Chelsea Brazilian star Kenedy has revealed his surprise to be back in the Chelsea team, having last played for the club in 2017.

Chelsea needed a wing-back to act as cover for the injured Ben Chilwell, and the Blues decided to bring back Kenedy who was on loan with Brazilian side Flamengo.

Kenedy was signed as a wonderkid from Brazil in Jose Mourinho’s second spell at the club, but he hasn’t really had much shot in the first team since then, and has mostly been out on loan.

Now 25, the Brazilian has admitted that returning back to Chelsea was a huge surprise for him.

Speaking at Rio de Janeiro airport, Kenedy said: “I was taken by surprise. I found out yesterday night around 11pm. Everything was very fast.

“Chelsea had a contract with Flamengo. They asked me to present myself and I’m presenting myself.

“It was Flamengo that told me. I’m just fulfilling the contract..”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
