Many believe that Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski was cheated out of winning the 2021 Ballon d’Or award.
The Poland international came second in the Ballon d’Or award while Jorginho came third and Lionel Messi was the eventual winner.
However, Lewandowski believes that the Chelsea midfielder had a phenomenal year in 2021, and had it been down to Bayern’s number nine, Jorginho would have won the FIFA Men’s Player of the Year.
“I always look at attacking players but what Jorginho won means a lot. You always have to remain neutral,” said Lewandowski when asked why he voted for the Chelsea midfielder for the award which was presented to him on Monday.
“He also scored important goals despite being a number six. The year, for him, was insane with Chelsea and Italy.”
