According to reports from France, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has decided to keep Chelsea defender Malang Sarr at the club until the end of the season.
The 22 year old defender was expected to leave Chelsea on loan in January but Get French Football claim he would now remain at Chelsea despite loan interest from several clubs.
Roma, managed by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, and Leicester City had shown an interest in signing Sarr on loan this January but Tuchel has decided to keep the player with the club until the end of the year having ‘proved a useful option at times this campaign’.
Italian side AC Milan, who signed Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea last year, were also interested in signing Sarr on loan this January.
Sarr has made a total of nine appearances for the Blues, including starting four matches in a row across three competitions in January.
He started the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this month.
Meanwhile, Sarr insists he’s ready to help the team irrespective of the position he plays.
He said: “I try to be the best I can to help the squad, to feel comfortable. If I need to play on the side, I will. If I need to play as three in the back, I will. No matter what I’m ready to help the team achieve our goals, to be on the pitch and perform.”
