Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel had bemoaned the lack of rest his side has had this season.

Chelsea have only won one of their last 7 league matches — a run that has seen the team drop from the top of the league to 12 points behind Manchester City.

Tuchel was unhappy with the fixture schedule for the game against Brighton, as he claimed playing on Tuesday didn’t give his team enough time to recover for that clash.

However, the boss is hopeful that the rest handed out to his players can have a major impact when Chelsea face Tottenham on Sunday.

“We decided to give them two days off to disconnect a little bit, but the two days alone will not solve everything,” said Tuchel.

“It was good to have and after the Tottenham game we have the chance to give the majority of the players more days off because we need it. But for Sunday we have to make sure we are in a different mindset, a different attitude and top shape, because it is a big match.”
