Mason Mount was one of the best players on the pitch as Chelsea defeated Real Madrid 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

The result wasn’t enough to see Chelsea through to the semi-final, and the Chelsea players were dejected at full-time.

Mount wrote on his social media page after the game: “We were resilient tonight and proved our might. We just fell short but remain Chels through and through.”

West Ham star Declan Rice who has been linked with a £100m move to Chelsea, hailed the performance of Mount as he responded:

“Special performance bro.”

Arsenal legend and football pundit Ian Wright sent a heartfelt message to Mount as well.

“Did yourself and the club proud Mase. Small margins. You’ll be back here,” Wright said.
