Benfica striker Darwin Nunez is having an amazing season with Benfica, and has been linked with many of Europe’s top sides, including Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has scored 46 goals in 81 appearances for Benfica, and is having a season to remember, with 32 goals in 37 games in all competitions.

Darwin scored two goals in their Champions League 6-4 defeat to Liverpool over two legs, and the young striker has however shut down claims that he’s set to join any of the aforementioned clubs this summer.

Speaking to TVI after Benfica’s Champions League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday night, the young striker said after receiving compliment from Jurgen Klopp: “What the Liverpool coach said, as well as our coach, I take it as a compliment, but my mind is on Benfica.

“Until the season is over, I won’t say anything, and I’ll leave everything for this shirt. My job is to continue like this, to take advantage of this luck that is happening to me.

“Last year I didn’t play at all, but this year I’m having an incredible season. I have to continue like this, and there is also a lot of merit from my colleagues.”

With his agent also involved in his transfer drama, Darwin Nunez said on social media: “I want to clarify that I will not renew my contract with my representative Edgardo Lasalvia.”

The 22-year-old Uruguay striker is valued at £60 million by Benfica.
