Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira had claimed that Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher was angry that he was denied a chance to test himself against his parent club in the FA Cup semi-final.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he spoke to the young midfielder and apologised to him over the situation.

Vieira has revealed that Gallagher feels better now and understands the situation.

Vieira said: “He was disappointed no doubt about it but he understood the rules and he’s in a good place.

“These are the rules. Of course, he knows that Conor has been doing really well for us. But these are the rules and we have to play by them. We will have another player playing and having different options.

“I am not worried about players coming in.”
