Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy for his performance in the FA Cup final.

Mendy had a good game from start to finish, but was unlucky not to be on the winning side.

The first 15-20 minutes of the game was dominated by Liverpool, but Mendy kept his side in the game with some fine saves.

Chelsea got back into the game thereafter, but missed countless chances to snatch the victory.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel said: “It was clear that in some moments we would suffer and unfortunately we did in the first 15 minutes.

“We looked nervous and tense. We also played with one less day in recovery. We had an away game against Leeds on Wednesday and played again 120 minutes today but it was clear we would suffer against this team during minutes.

“We managed to stay in the match, clearly because of an excellent goalkeeping performance from Edou.

“We dug in and got better and better, more confident and we found solutions and created chances ourselves. Everybody is in pain, there is no way you escape this game without pain.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
