After a long time out, Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has finally returned to first-team training, having missed the majority of the season through an ACL injury he picked up in November 2021.
The England international has been sidelined with a knee injury he picked up in the 4-0 win over Juventus in the Champions League, and hasn’t played for the team again.
Chilwell has been training with the youth team for the past two weeks before returning to first team training on Tuesday, much to the cheers of teammates and coaches.
Chilwell has been sorely missed this season, and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is glad to have him back in training.
“Ben Chilwell was back in team training which was very good news and a big uplift for everyone,” said Tuchel.
“It was very good news to see him back in training but of course he is out for the match. We are desperate to have Ben back next season because he’s one of our key players.
“At the same time we will be very patient with him because it’s a big injury and he’s been out for a long time. We are very excited and looking forward to having him back.”
